Congratulations Kim and Andy!!

July 18, 2008

A perfect day for a wedding at the Denver Botanical Gardens! We were so excited for this day because it had truly been a long wait. We first met Kim and Andy at their engagement shoot back in the fall. Andy is an officer in the US Army and soon after that shoot, he was leaving for the last half of a one year deployment to Iraq. I felt a special connection with Andy because I was in the military also. ( Aside – My first anniversary celebration was a phone call to Julie from the Philippines Islands before boarding the ship for deployment to the Persian Gulf. “Hi Honey..Love you…See you in six months”). After the engagement shoot, Andy was gone and Kim had to do all the wedding prep solo, communicating with Andy via email. Of course we were all concerned for Andy’s safety and also concerned that he really would be able to return in time for the wedding! We were definitely praying for Andy and for Kim. Most Americans who have never served have no idea what sacrifices our service members and their families endure for us. Our thanks could never be enough.

Anyway, after a long fall and spring, Andy did return home safely, and right on time! Whew! So, it was all on for the wedding! Hooray!

We met Kim at her room at the beautiful J.W. Marriott in Cherry Creek. We then went with the entire bridal party via Sunset Limousines to LODO for a little fun and to toast Kim and Andy. This was followed by a gorgeous ceremony at the Denver Botanical Gardens. Even though the rain started to fall as we finished up the family formals, it lasted only a short time and the vibrant colors and dramatic skies that came as a result were wonderful! The party at the J.W. Marriott lasted well into the night with all the details left in the very capable hands of Pam from Sapphire Celebrations. Kim and Andy left for a very beautiful honeymoon in French Polynesia. Does it get any better? We think the world of Kim and Andy and are so glad they found each other! It was such an honor to be their photographer. Here are just a few of my favorites…many more to come!
