On July 31, 2010, Andrew and Alli exchanged vows at the beautiful St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church. I was unprepared for its astounding old-world charm and beauty. I felt like I had just stepped into old Europe. We then visited Alli’s alma mater, the campus of DU on our way to the reception site at The Cable Center. They had the greatest bridal party that were up for anything we threw at them. The dancing went late into the night and the couple made a hasty exit amidst sparklers. Enjoy the show…

Meteor Shower

Two nights ago was the meteor shower. According to science authorities higher up, the Earth was passing through the tail end of a comet that orbits around the sun. The rock and debris coming off the comet shows up in our world as meteors as it falls to the Earth. We gathered on our deck under some cozy blankets to watch the show. I must admit, it was a bit less dramatic than expected. Of course, Chris cannot just be content to just watch the show, he has to shoot it. He set up the camera on the tripod, gave it a super long exposure and got a couple awesome shots…

Alli and Andrew get married {a sneak peek}

Last Saturday was a day that certainly belonged to Allie and Andrew. These high school sweethearts had waited five long years for this very day to come. The excitement of the family and friends was very evident. Congratulations! We are so happy for you and thank you for letting us take part. I’ll write more later but just wanted to get the a few of my favorite images (there are so many) out on the blog. Hopefully, you can see these while on your honeymoon cruise (you lucky guys!). We will reveal more in a few days, I just could not resist sharing these with those that follow our blog…more to come!

Jennifer and Brent get married {Colorado wedding photography}

Calvary Baptist Church and Terrace Garden at Ken Caryl

Congratulations to Jennifer and Brent! We are so thrilled to have had the privilege of shooting their wedding. They met at Baylor University, fell in love and now have a wonderful life before them! Since their church is such an important part of their lives, it was the obvious location choice for their “first look”. In case you’ve never heard that terminology, that is when the bride and groom have a special meeting arranged prior to the wedding ceremony. We then left the church with the bridal party and headed to a nearby park. Weddings are always crazy and unpredictable but this was a new one, even for us. There was a real locomotive going around the park-I’m guessing its main passengers are children-but they allowed the entire bridal party to climb aboard for a photo op. Really fun! We all returned to the church for a beautiful ceremony given by their pastors. The main take-away message I received was that marriage is meant to make us holy, not happy. I think there is something very profound in that message and just wanted to share it with our blog followers.

After the ceremony, the couple was whisked away to Terrace Gardens. More photo ops on their gorgeous grounds (and maybe even the nearby golf course) and then onto a night of dancing, dancing and more dancing. Jen and Brent’s first dance is my absolute favorite! (and we get to see a lot of first dances). The first unusual part was that the father/daughter dance came first. That was followed by a “seemingly” awkward couple’s dance that was interrupted by an apparent error by the DJ. The music then continued with numerous tracks for which the bride and groom had choreographed awesome dance moves to. It was an incredible surprise that only the DJ, bridesmaid and myself were in on. Great job on making such a memorable and fun first dance for us all to enjoy. The evening ended with the bride and groom running to a very decorated car amidst fireworks.

Jennifer and Brent have a beautiful love story and a long happy marriage ahead of them. We are grateful that we were chosen to photograph them and preserve their memories. Here is just a few favorites, many more to come!

Sometimes you just get that magic moment in family photography that captures everyone’s personality. I love this image of this family. It is all in their expressions. Family photography reminds me just how much we are all changing. This is our third shoot with the baby and she changes so much in just three months that I can hardly recognize her. Just blink and these girls are in grade school, blink again and they are leaving for college. I guess that is why I love photography and feel it is such an absolute essential part of the family. These moments are fleeting and, if you are always the one taking the pictures, you are not in the shot. The really awesome part is that this photo will grow more and more valuable to this family over time, as the girls change and grow older. Just wanted to share this special moment with this family…

Congrats to Ken and Betina!

Today we had Ken and Betina over to toast their new marriage. We shot their wedding on June 5. It was a beautiful wedding at the Boettcher Mansion with every guest in either black tie or formal gowns. This wedding was loaded with details and we think you’ll see it again on a wedding blog or magazine in the near future. We could not be happier for Ken and Betina.
