There is a brand new blog in Colorado that, if you are getting married, it is a must for inspiration.

The current feature is about shoes, non-white wedding shoes. Laura Dombrowski, the blog’s author, puts a brand new twist on wearing colorful shoes–think of it as going “green”. Wear the shoes on your wedding day AND later. This means less waste. It is also a great excuse to show off your adventurous side.

We began the day with preparations at the Westin on the 16th Street Mall. After a beautiful private meeting of the bride and groom, we hit the streets of Denver for one very cool photo op. Then we headed over to Central Pres Church for the ceremony. Some of our favorite shots came courtesy of the flower girl and ring bearer (see below). After the ceremony, family and friends jumped in the limo and headed over to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Even the couple’s beloved bulldogs joined in the fun. The DMNS has to be one of the coolest, most contemporary venues in all of Denver. The reception spread out over all four floors. After a delicious dinner catered by the Denver Museum of Nature and Science staff, the dancing began with gusto thanks to Simply Entertainment. An imprompu solo from a guest brought down the house as well as the bride and her sister’s rap. We ended the evening with a private moment on the balcony overlooking the views of Denver. One really lovely wedding day!! Congratulations Erin and Terrill! We could not be happier for you!

What an incredible wedding! It was over-the-top! We are excited to show a few of our favorites as we put the finishing touches on their slideshow. The day began at the very chic Marriott on the 16th Street Mall, a few choice downtown spots, the ceremony at Denver Central Pres and then the reception at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. It was our first time at the DMNS. I was expecting dinosaur exhibits…instead we were treated to one of the coolest contemporary venues in the city. Wow! More to come…

TRASH THE DRESS

What the heck is this? I think everyone has their own definition. I guess this is our own definition: Freedom. It represents a departure from traditional thinking that the wedding dress is to be kept in its pristine state, preserved for use by the future generations. When I think about it, I have never shot a wedding where the bride wore her motherâ€™s gown. I think it is a great concept but what are the odds that that style will be acceptable? That your daughter will be the same size? I am thinking fairly low probability. So, if youâ€™ve spent all that money on your dress and itâ€™s only going to be worn once, why not have some fun? Live a little.

It is a total kick to put a bride in her beautiful white dress in a place that is totally differentâ€¦a field, a dirty city alley. Weâ€™ve even been approached by a bride to shoot her in her wedding dress as she mountain climbs. Iâ€™m sure you donâ€™t see that every day.

Weâ€™ve got a lot of ideas of some really cool things we could do but you probably have some ideas too. Let us know, weâ€™d love to hear them. The greatest part of this concept is that it is a lot of fun. I bet it is a lot more fun than the actual wedding day-no crowds, no schedule to keep, no worries about keeping the dress clean. It is total freedom to have a lot of fun and create beautiful artistic images in a completely new and different way.

A couple of weeks ago, we got together with 38 other photographers at a workshop in a little-known ghost town outside of Golden. We had a blast and our brides were such terrific sports. One of the brides has a husband in Iraq and plans to surprise him with these photos. It is a really cool concept that should definitely be considered by every bride, whether youâ€™re planning your wedding or youâ€™ve been married for a while. Here are a few photos of our dayâ€¦
